Ushers Ministry
The ministry seeks to provide for the comfort of members, visitors, and the clergy during all worship services. The ministry supports the order of service by assisting with seating, the offering and any other aspect to ensure physical and spiritual dignity in the worship experience.

Music Ministry
The purpose of the Music Ministry is to enhance the worship service through songs and hymns of praise. Through various choirs defined by age groups, the ministry is dedicated to singing praises to God in spirit and in truth. Choir membership is open to members of Good Shepherd who have completed Choir Member Orientation.

Youth Inspirational Dancers
This ministry is open to youth who are at least nine years of age. Members offer praise to God through interpretative dance to Christian music and songs. The ministry may perform during worship service and for special programs at home and in the community.

Passion Play Ministry
This ministry is part of the evangelistic arm of the church. The Passion Play Ministry presents a major drama and musical production each spring that is free to the public. He Reigneth Forevermore dramatizes the story of Jesus’ life from birth through the ascension. A group of volunteers from the church and community make up the cast and committees of this production.

Prayer Council Team
The Council is dedicated to the study of God’s Word for a deeper understanding of the power of prayer. The Council holds weekly Bible Study and conducts intercessory prayer every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at the church.

Vacation Bible School
The purpose of the Vacation Bible School is to educate children and adults in a relaxed and fun environment. Lessons are used that invite the unsaved to yield their lives to Jesus Christ, and for the saved to make a stronger commitment to Jesus Christ. The School is held each summer.

Bible Study
The goal of Weekly Bible Study is to provide Christian teaching that results in discipleship and responsible Christian living. Bible Study and Prayer Meetings are scheduled twice each week.

Children’s Church
The Children’s Church is held during the regular church worship hours. Children learn to worship God on their level by following an order of service that is relevant to their spiritual and developmental level.

Women’s Ministry
The Women of Faith and Service is a sisterhood in which women of all ages gather for fellowship, comfort, healing, nurturing, discipleship training, witnessing, teaching, ministering, mentoring, and being heard.

Men’s Ministry
The Men’s Ministry ministers to the needs of the men of the Church and community by providing services, programs, and events that seek to address the issues that men are confronted with in their Christian life. Noted programs are: Prison Ministry, Men’s Conference, and a Mentoring Program.

Jehovah-Nissi Soldier
The ministry supports the church by providing security for the congregation during regular worship services and during special programs. The ministry works in conjunction with the Men’s Ministry.

Jennings Place Tutorial
The ministry provides academic tutorial assistance to students in grades 1-12 in Jennings Place Housing Development. The ministry seeks an atmosphere of learning that promotes positive study habits. Students are taught God’s Holy Word through Bible Study during every study session. The goal is Salvation in Christ, and to assist students in developing Christian values and morals.

Healthcare Ministry
The ministry evaluates the nature of illnesses that occur during worship, and provides temporary medical assistance. Additional services include quarterly blood drives and the annual health fair.

Angels of Love
The ministry is comprised of Christian men and women of varying ages who are dedicated to helping others and studying the Word of God. Examples of helps include providing hot meals, ministering to the sick and bereaved with visits, food, prayer and follow-up care.

Trustee Ministry
The Trustees handle the business and financial affairs of the church. The ministry is responsible for receiving and accurately accounting for all financial and tangible gifts, and ensuring that all financial obligations of the church are met in a timely manner.

Marriage Ministry
The Ministry provides spiritual tools and guidance to married persons through education, activities, and evangelism for strengthening of marriages, and the advancement of the kingdom of God.

Singles’ Ministry
The ministry is open to male and female individuals who have never been married, widows/widowers, and divorcees, for the purpose of providing single Christians the opportunity to fellowship together. Activities include social gatherings, and workshops that focus on spiritual development and strengthening their relationship with God.

Deaconess Ministry
A women’s ministry that serves at the pleasure of the pastor. Members are co-laborers with the Deacons in assisting the Sick and Shut-in, assisting female candidates for Baptism, and assisting with the Holy Communion. Other activities include maintaining written communication with the church’s college students and Armed Services Personnel.

Deacon’s Ministry
Deacons are servants who are set aside for the purpose of assisting the pastor in caring for the membership. This is done by visiting the sick and the bereaved, leading a fervent prayer life for the benefit of the church body, leading the devotional services, assisting with baptism, serving the Holy Communion, assisting members with needs or securing the appropriate resources to meet those needs.

Interfaith Hospitality Network
The Ministry facilitates support for the regional network by helping provide homeless families with shelter, food, clothing, transportation, activities, and employment leads. Families are identified by the regional network and are housed at Good Shepherd quarterly.

COMMUNITY MINISTRY

Business Advocate Group
The ministry provides an advocacy for members who are independent business persons, or who are in the service industry. Seminars, business fairs, youth mentoring, and a business directory are some of the activities sponsored by the Group.

Computer Literacy
The ministry operates in an on-site computer lab. Staffed by volunteers, the ministry seeks to meet the technological needs of the membership through six-week sessions for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. Courses include keyboarding, word processing, data base, and PowerPoint for presentations. Students can develop computer skills in a non-threatening environment at no cost to members, and free to non-members on a space available basis.

Summer Enrichment Program
The program offers a quality summer enrichment program for kindergarten through eighth grades for six weeks each summer. The program is staffed by certified teachers and experienced assistants. Students participate in field trips and activities that strengthen academic skills in a Christian-based environment.

Credit Union Committee
The Committee is charged with the study and development of a church sponsored credit union that will provide the membership with a safe place to save and borrow monies at reasonable rates. The Committee is still in the study and development phase.

Christian School Committee
The Committee is charged with the study of successful Christian school models and with making recommendations to the Pastor on a strategy for developing a Christian school that will help students grow academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
